Journaling my genealogy research online seems to be the right thing to do for the future of my research rather than hiding it away in some box or drawer in my home. This blog is more of a diary of my research which expands as I go. Know that a post from last year may have more updated research in a different post. I love the discovery process which has resulted in such wonderful success in finding my roots. If you comment and are looking for a response, please leave me an email address.
Note: For privacy reasons, living people are not identified in this blog without permission.
Cheers!

In Search of a Photo of Lizzie Strehlow (Elizabeth Borchers)
Every now and again I review my photo collection for my various family lines. I have a wishlist in my head of those ancestors of whom I wish I had a photo. I love to see what people looked like. A photo is worth a thousand words, after-all.
When it comes to my Borchers Family line, I have looked high and low for a photo of Lizzie Strehlow (Elizabeth Borchers) but to no avail. My aunt suspects that the following person may be a Strehlow, however, she may just be another Borchers descendant from another of the siblings.
So, I can make several suppositions about the above photo. The young lady is likely from my Borchers side as found in my grandma's photo album. I seek to find out who she is plus find a photo of Lizzie.

Happy New Year 2014!
Happy New Year 2014!
I did write this post a few weeks back and set it up to post today. I say this because this may be how my posting goes for 2014. I will post when I can and when time permits.
While I do love researching my family line, the discoveries of new information have slowed. I have little time to commit to "outside" research. That is to say, most of my research is done at home using online resources and anything my mother can hand off to me.
Currently, I am very "into" gathering photos. Last year I published an album of sorts via Shutterfly that is a photo history of my mother's side of the family. I've considered linking it here but it contains information about and photos of living people. Posting about the living is generally (without permission anyway) something I don't do for privacy reasons.
The book itself is only about 20 pages long but includes photos provided courtesy of various family members. I am very thankful that those photos were given to me and many have already been posted somewhere here in this blog.
The final page that I'm sharing today indicates where my ancestors were from and where they stopped along their immigration and migration to Napa, California. What I did not include is Australia because I'm just not exactly sure at this point in time where the O'Brien's and Flanagan's were specifically located.
Anyway, the book itself revolves around my family in Napa. I am hoping to create Volume 2 soon with my father's side of the family but photos are coming in much more slowly.
Happy New Year to all!

The above page from the book does have my mother when she was a child as the person who connects me to everyone above her. The page includes photos of four pairs of my great great grandparents.
